Volunteering Awards

As part of our efforts to promote volunteering, the SVS committee has proudly launched a series of prize recognition to celebrate exceptional volunteering efforts within the student body:
Awards
1. Volunteer of the Year - £100 prize
2. Volunteer Group of the Year (Sports) - £100 prize
3. Volunteer Group of the Year (Society) - £100 prize
4. 3 Summer Travel Bursaries worth £150 each
Application criteria for Volunteer of the Year, Sports and Society Awards:
a) Volunteering is defined as work you chose to do (ie not compulsory or coursework-related), unpaid, and which benefits the community. Hence, it can be active involvement in your student society, in a series of community events, being an active member of a charitable activity, volunteering in a charity shop or local organisation.
b) Outstanding volunteering activity done in the past year.
c) For Volunteer Group of the Year (Sports) - only members of sports teams who engage in volunteering activity are eligible.
d) For Volunteer Group of the Year (Society) - members of Union-affiliated and non-Union affiliated societies and groups are eligible.
Application criteria for Summer Travel Bursaries:
a) any matriculated student of the University can apply (final year students too!)
b) priority given to activities that are volunteering-related
c) only valid for international travel

9th - 13th April 2012 [Online Applications Open]
20th April [Announcement of Winners]
26th April [Awarding Ceremony]
Application Process:
1. Visit the SVS website at www.yourunion.net/svs from 9th - 13th April 2012.
2. Download the application form, fill it in and send to amc88@
3. Wait for an email response from the SVS committee.
The judging panel will be comprised of members from the Career Centre, Chaplaincy, Student Services and the SVS committee.
